In this lab we were first told to grab random plants not knowing what we were going to use them for. For our lab we used our plants to test for antibacterial activity because thats what most medicines come from, are plants. My group (Ely and I) chose daises for our plants. First we poured DLB ;) agar into a petrie dish with our daisy solution, then we put on ecoli bacteria to see if the plant material was resistant. If it was there was supposed to be a clearing around the daisy solution but unfortunately there was not. We then wondered if it was something we did or was it the daisy that actually didn't resist, so we looked and up and found that the daisy is not an antibacterial plant so that gave us a little bit of relief that we most likely did the lab right. This was one of my favorite labs all year because i was really interested and in the future would look for a job that had to do with this. The only bad part about this project though is that the bacteria smelt really bad.
