Introduction
For this project we were instructed to create a model of a heart valve while staying as cost effective as possible. When doing this had to measure the elasticity, and compare and contrast it to an actual heart valve.
Process:
At first we started with a ball valve, this design neglected the fact that we needed to include elasticity, and it also did not work very well so we came up with a new design. Our next step we created a product that consisted of a clarinet mouth piece as well as legos and a rubber band. Though this product included elasticity, it did not work very well and did not represent the heart valve well enough. Our last design which was and is our best, was 3D printed. Not only did this work like a heart using a bottle to represent the pulse coming from squeezing the bottle.
Our Final Model
Reflection:I thought that this project was interesting and brought a new perspective to creative thinking, whiole including and indulging students. I think that it would have been better first semester because I really just want to work on our capstone project but I respected this project and what it taught me about the heart.
